Port Profile

On 1 November 2009, the Port Of Bundaberg became part of Gladstone Port Corporation Limited.

With a strategic position on the Australian eastern seaboard, and the capacity to accommodate a range of industrial and waterfront development, the Port of Bundaberg is seen as being well placed to:

  • Provide an alternative location for specialised bulk and general cargoes to those handled to the north and south.
  • Accommodate future industrial and port related growth within the region.
  • Promote the strategic development of recreational and pleasure-craft yachting.
  • Efficiently manage its land requirements for dredged material placement and handling.
  • Recognise and conserve areas of established ecological value.

The Port of Bundaberg is situated 19.3km downstream from the City of Bundaberg, 4.8km from the mouth of the Burnett River, and has an entrance channel 11km long. The channel is 103m wide, with a minimum 9.5m navigable depth (LAT) which leads into a swing basin, 1,165m long and 320m wide.

The Bundaberg Port Information Handbook 2010 provides a detailed overview of the Port’s Services and Facilities.
